Just like the Warrior the Death Knight in Wrath of the Lich King is able to wear any type of armor. Plate armor is the obvious choice as it offers the best protection. In the past it often occurred that classes able to wear plate armor took pieces of leather armor as those had better stats for them - which caused a bit of dismay with the leather wearing classes.

To prevent this from happening with Wrath of the Lich King Blizzard has introduced a special talent which is a first pick for any Death Knight who wants to deal out some serious damage. This talent increases the Death Knight's attack power for each point of armor he is wearing. Naturally plate armor has a higher armor factor, which makes leather armor rather unattractive.

Strength and Stamina are the primary attributes making plate armor interesting for Death Knights. Depending on whether the Death Knight wants to tank or deal damage he will either look for defense-, dodge- and parry-rating or haste- and crit-rating. As Death Knights don't use shields while tanking block rating is of no use to them.

There are of course epic armor sets in the new raid dungeons for Death Knights. They can chose between a tanking set and a set tailored for damage dealing. These sets have special bonuses for having two or four pieces of them equipped, each bonus either with a tanking or damage dealing focus. The older raid dungeons have not been itemized with Death Knight items however.
